About Us
Israel Travels is the handiwork of two people: Author and travel writer Aviva Bar-Am - and tour guide/photographer Shmuel (Shmulik) Bar-Am.
For the past 15 years, American-born Aviva has been a regular travel correspondent for the Jerusalem Post. She has also published six guidebooks on Israel, is busy with two more, and prepares slideshow presentations about Israel for religious schools and community centers in America and Canada.
All of Aviva’s articles, books and slideshows are illustrated with stunning color photographs taken by Shmulik, who was born in Israel and is passionate about Israel. Shmulik is not only a fantastic photographer, but a dynamic, enthusiastic and experienced tour guide as well.
Besides the regular tourist stops, Shmuel loves to take visitors on trips off the beaten track. He specializes in Jerusalem, with which he is intimately familiar. Together Aviva and Shmuel plan itineraries that are perfectly suited to the tourists that Shmuel guides on trips throughout the country. Upon departure, Aviva presents each family/tourist with one of her books.
